Henry County Sheriff’s Department officers responding to an argument on East Antioch Road Thursday morning wound up arresting a Springville man on drug charges.
Danny F. Mitchell, 53, of 5383 E. Antioch Road was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, deliver or sell and with unlawful drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff’s Lt. Lance Perry and Cpl. David Andrews went to Mitchell’s address after a report of yelling and arguing. Mitchell and a woman were arguing when the officers arrived. During the conversation, Mitchell had his hands in his pocket, according to Perry’s report. When Perry asked what was in his pocket, Mitchell pulled out a pink tube/container that had methamphetamine in it.
During a search of the home, officers also found a case that contained three syringes, a multi-colored bong, and a plastic container with rolling papers inside.
Mitchell was scheduled to appear Thursday in Henry County General Sessions Court. His bond was set at $2,000.
In a separate incident, a Puryear man reported nearly $1,700 worth of items had been stolen from his address on Highway 140 west of Puryear.
Sheriff’s Deputy Stacey Bostwick took a report at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday from the man, who said someone had entered a shed on his property and taken two push mowers with a combined value of $1,100, and a chain saw valued at $275.
The man also reported a group of power tools worth $300 had been taken from his vehicle.
